Emergency Management Agency Coordinator Needed
With the retirement of John Bauer as the Borough's Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Coordinator, the Borough Council is now actively seeking a replacement. Municipal Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Coordinator (Description)
The Municipal EMA Coordinator is recommended by the Municipality and appointed by the Governor of Pennsylvania. They must submit, free of charge, a PA State Police Criminal Background Check to the municipality.
The EMA Coordinator should have a good knowledge of the municipality including roads, areas that flood, resources available, and an eagerness to work with the local fire, ambulance, police, public works, and elected officials in keeping their residents safe.
The EMA Coordinator helps their residents to be prepared for all types of emergencies, coordinates help during emergencies, and helps the community to recover after an emergency. They also help lessen the impact of the emergencies on the community.
The EMA Coordinator will network with public safety agencies, public works, and elected officials in reviewing the municipality’s emergency operations plan, identify resources available in the municipality, and practice functioning in the municipal emergency operations center.
During emergencies the EMA Coordinator will identify what damages have occurred, any unmet needs, and forward that information to Crawford County EMA from their municipal emergency operations center.
Training for EMA Coordinator can be taken on-line at their convenience and most in-person courses are taught by the County EMA. EMA Coordinator needs to attend quarterly trainings offered by the County EMA.
